MTN-Nigeria’s CEO Sifiso Dabengwa Resigns Over N1.04 Trillion Fine

After a $5.2 billion fine from the Nigerian Communications Commission, MTN-Nigeria’s CEO Sifiso Dabengwa resigned from the company.

Dabengwa said: “My in the interest of the company and its shareholders”, and his resignation takes immediate effect.

The fine was handed out to the company for failing to cut off unregistered sim card lines, and has until the 16th of November to pay the fine.

Mr Sifiso: “Due to the most unfortunate prevailing circumstances occurring at MTN Nigeria, I, in the interest of the company and its shareholders, have tendered my resignation with immediate effect.”
