They Ain’t Helping My Career – Vector Reveals Why He Left YSG Entertainment
Not too long ago, the once rewarding relationship between prolific rapper, Vector and his erstwhile label, YSG turned into a discussion that engulfed the Nigerian music scene.
The label had filed an injunction against Vector at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos for ‘persistent breach of contract’ which affected the rapper from recording, composing or releasing any material as a recording artiste.
Vector who was with the label for five years complained that the label was not giving adequate attention to his career and that the label also refused to hire professionals that will properly help manage his career. The tussle was however resulted amicably after both parties opted for an ‘out of court’ settlement.
Speaking with ERAVE after winning the ‘Best rap song’ at the recently held COSON Song Awards, Vector revealed that the 9 months of the court squabble was the most difficult of his life. “I feel great winning an award tonight because ‘King Kong’ was dropped after the 9 months battle with my former label, YSG Entertainment. It is indeed a dream come true”
On what kept him going during the career threatening tussle, Vector said “I kept the believe that I am coming out with something great. I never looked back and the result is what we are celebrating tonight. It was really difficult but having the right people around me helped a lot.”
